At The Harwood Hill, we are committed to facilitating this website’s accessibility and usability for all persons with disabilities. We are in the process of implementing the relevant portions of the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA (WCAG 2.0 AA) and other standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Additionally, we periodically have our website tested with assistive technology.
We strive to provide every guest who wishes to visit us with the means to do so regardless of their physical capabilities and do not discriminate on the basis of any physical or mental disability. We have taken the following measures to comply with the ADA:
- We have developed an implementation plan for accessibility to our grounds and rooms. This plan is in progress and will be completed as we renovate and upgrade our facilities.
- We allow individuals with disabilities to make reservations during the same hours and by the same means as individuals without disabilities.
- We hold our most accessible guest rooms for use by individuals with disabilities until all other guest rooms of that class have been booked.
- When a specifically requested accessible room is booked, we hold this room for the reserving guest. Additionally, we work with third-party reservation systems, as we are able, to make accessible rooms and information concerning accessible features at the motel available.
- We accommodate service animals that meet ADA criteria and provide guests accompanied by service animals access to all areas of the motel available to those without service animals.
- We include content on our website that allows individuals with disabilities to determine whether our motel meets their needs. See Accessible Accommodations below for specific descriptions of accessible features in our guest rooms and on our grounds.
Accessible Accommodations
When you complete your booking on our website, please click on “Add Special Instructions” to request any of the following rooms or accessibility features.
- Our Economy Queen rooms are located on the first floor and have 31-1/4 inch doorways. We provide ramps when needed to navigate the small step upward into these rooms. These rooms feature step-in showers with low curbs and toilets that have grip points close by, which we have been informed by several of our guests who utilize wheelchairs are acceptable for facilitating use of the toilets. Additionally, the showers in rooms 9 and 10 have horizontal grab bars.
- Our Deluxe King rooms are also located on the first floor, and may be accessed via a ramp that we provide upon request. These rooms have diagonal grab bars in the combination tub/showers.
- We have a portable shower bench available upon request.
- All onsite parking is on a well-graded gravel lot that does not allow for permanent markings; however, when requested, we provide barriers in a reserved area to allow sufficient clearance for vans with lifts. All parking is in close proximity to our rooms.
- We will gladly assist you with your luggage.
- There are no elevators on site. All but one of our guest rooms as well as our office are on the ground floor.
If we are given some advance notice that you need wheelchair accessibility or require other accommodations, we will take extra care to ensure you have a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable check-in and stay with us!
